About Me

I am a 20-something lawyer living in Boston. My love of cooking began when I was three years old in my Grandmother's kitchen. My love of "inventing" and making messes grew into a lifelong passion for food and cooking. Since I spent many years as an impoverished law student, I learned to get really creative in the kitchen. My long suffering boyfriend Craig has been the official taste-tester over many years and many basement apartment kitchens. Since taking home our Labradoodle bundle of joy, Archer, in November, we are spending more and more nights at home, which gives me a lot of opportunities to cook and experiment.

I started this blog after reading in the New York Times about the "takeout generation" of 20-somethings who can't boil water. Coupled with staggering statistics about disease and obesity, I became inspired to illustrate how cheap and easy it is to prepare healthy meals. Even with a demanding career, hobbies, friends and family, you can integrate cooking and healthier eating into your life.

First, I develop ALL my own recipes. Unless noted, every single recipe is my own creation. Sure, I am sometimes inspired by traditional dishes, magazines and other blogs, but the execution and experimentation is all my own. My blog emphasizes whole, healthy foods and the fun and ease of integrating fresh, seasonal ingredients into your diet. Additionally, I seek to provide information about foods, supplements and research about healthy living. Finally, I hope to provide strategies and tricks to help make cooking and healthy eating a part of your busy lifestyle.

As always, this blog is a work in progress, so I appreciate any and all feedback. Email me at genyfoodie@gmail.com or leave me a comment.

Love,
Dara
